About the roaster
Stone Creek Coffee has been roasting in Milwaukee since 1993 and runs nine cafés across the city. They’re our favorite roaster in our hometown, though we’re hardly alone in that. The coffee in this jar comes from Colombia. It’s brewed, then freeze-dried with nothing else added.

Why we made this
Why instant coffee?
We wanted one we’d choose even when we had time to make something else, and we wanted anyone to be able to make excellent coffee at home without an espresso machine or complicated coffee setup.
The coffee
It started with one of our favorite coffees.
We developed FLUR Instant with Stone Creek Coffee, our favorite hometown roaster. The coffee comes from Huila, Colombia, with notes of caramel, citrus, and cocoa. After roasting, it’s brewed and freeze-dried to preserve its flavor and aroma, with nothing else added.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many servings are in a jar?
Each jar makes 15 servings. Use one serving for a full cup of coffee, or make it espresso strength with less water.
What's the ratio?
Coffee goes in first, then water. For hot coffee, use one teaspoon (4 g) with one cup (240 ml) of hot water. For espresso-strength, use one teaspoon with a quarter cup (60 ml). For iced coffee, dissolve one teaspoon in a splash of hot water, then add 6 oz of cold water and fill the glass with ice.
How is this different from grocery-store instant?
Most instant is engineered for volume. The coffee is extracted under high heat and pressure to squeeze every last soluble out of the bean, which drags in harsh, bitter compounds a normal brew leaves behind. Most of the aroma is lost along the way, and large producers recover it chemically and add it back before jarring.
Ours is made the slow way. We brew specialty Colombian coffee, then freeze-dry it gently so the flavor and aroma never leave. It's just coffee and water, with nothing added back.
How much caffeine is in a serving?
About as much as a standard cup of coffee. If you're caffeine-sensitive, treat one serving like one regular cup.
What's the shelf life?
Each jar is stamped with a best-by date. Stored cool and dry with the lid tight, it holds its flavor well up to that date.
