About the roaster
Stone Creek Coffee has been roasting in Milwaukee since 1993 and runs nine cafés across the city. They’re our favorite roaster in our hometown, though we’re hardly alone in that. The coffee in this jar comes from Colombia. It’s brewed, then freeze-dried with nothing else added.

The difference
Nothing like the instant coffee you remember.
Typical instant coffee comes in hard granules and often tastes bitter or flat. FLUR starts with specialty coffee and is freeze-dried into fine crystals to preserve its natural aroma and flavor.
The difference is obvious before you even take a sip. The crystals are finer. The aroma smells like real coffee. The cup is smooth enough to drink black.
Fine coffee crystals · Fresh coffee aroma · Smooth, balanced flavor

The coffee
Good instant coffee starts with good coffee.
FLUR Instant Coffee is made with specialty coffee grown in Huila, Colombia and roasted by Stone Creek Coffee in Milwaukee, WI. After brewing, it is freeze-dried into fine crystals to preserve its natural aroma and flavor.
It has notes of caramel, cocoa and citrus. No added flavors or sweeteners.
Medium roast. Smooth black. Rich enough for milk.
The math
Make the coffee run at home.
One $6 coffee-shop latte costs about the same as three servings of FLUR.
No machine. No pods. No coffee-shop line.

Why we made it
Why we made it.
I'm Ethan Rode. I make coffee for a living, and for years people asked me which instant coffee they should buy. I never had a good answer. Most instant coffee was easy to make, but it just didn't taste very good.
So my wife, Liz, and I spent over a year developing one we would choose even when we had time to make something else. We wanted anyone to be able to make really good coffee at home without an espresso machine or a complicated setup.
FLUR is still a small husband-and-wife business in Milwaukee. We pack every order ourselves, answer every customer email and care about every jar that leaves our hands.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from regular instant coffee?
FLUR starts with specialty coffee grown in Colombia and roasted in Milwaukee. After brewing, it is freeze-dried into fine crystals to preserve its natural aroma and flavor. It looks and tastes nothing like the hard, bitter instant coffee many people are used to.
Are the caramel, cocoa and citrus flavors added?
No. Those are natural tasting notes from the coffee. There are no added flavors or sweeteners.
Can I use it for lattes and iced coffee?
Yes. Mix one teaspoon with less water for an espresso-strength base, then add milk, ice or syrup. You can also use it for shaken espresso, whipped coffee and other coffee-shop drinks.
What is the ratio?
For hot coffee, use one teaspoon (4g) with 8oz (240mL) of hot water. For espresso strength, use one teaspoon with 2oz (60mL) of hot water. For iced coffee, dissolve one teaspoon in a splash of hot water, then add 6oz of cold water and ice.
Can I mix it with cold water?
Yes. For the quickest, smoothest iced drink, we recommend dissolving it in a small splash of hot water first, then adding cold water and ice.
How many servings are in a jar?
Each jar makes 15 servings. One teaspoon (4g) makes a full cup of coffee or an espresso-strength serving with less water.
Does it need to be refrigerated?
No. Keep the lid tight and store the jar in a cool, dry place. No fridge or freezer needed.
How much caffeine is in a serving?
About the same as a standard cup of coffee. If you are caffeine-sensitive, treat one serving like one regular cup.
What is the shelf life?
Each jar is stamped with a best-by date. Keep it cool and dry with the lid tight for the best flavor.
How does the subscription work?
One jar on subscription is the same price as a one-time order, and subscribing to 2 jars saves 5% (3 jars saves 10%) on every delivery. A jar is reserved for you in every batch, delivered every 2 or 4 weeks. You can skip, change or cancel anytime with no fees.
