What you need
- 2 overly ripe bananas
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup white sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- A splash of maple syrup
- A pinch of salt
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
- ½ teaspoon butter extract, if you can find it
How to make it
- Peel the bananas and mash them up with a fork.
- Add the mashed bananas, both sugars, cinnamon, maple syrup, salt, and water to a pot.
- Let it simmer for 15 minutes, whisking occasionally.
- Take it off the heat and strain it through a fine mesh strainer.
- Stir in the vanilla bean paste and the butter extract.
Pro tip
To make a banana bread latte: dissolve 1 tsp (4 g) FLUR Instant in 1 oz of hot water, add 2 tbsp of syrup, then 6 oz of milk over ice. The syrup keeps in the fridge for about 7 days.
