Homemade Vanilla Syrup
Ingredients:
For the syrup:
- 1 cup turbinado sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp vanilla bean paste
- pinch of salt
Instructions:
1. Add and water to a small pot and bring it to a simmer.
2. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved, then turn off the heat.
3. Once it’s off the heat, stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
4. Let it cool, then pour into a sealed jar or bottle. Store in the fridge. Lasts up to 1 month in the fridge.
Tips
1. Don’t boil your vanilla extract.
Add it after you take the syrup off the heat. If you boil it, you lose all that flavor you paid for.
2. Add a pinch of salt.
Salt balances the sweetness and brings out the vanilla. Don’t skip it.
3. Use turbinado sugar.
It’s a less processed version of white sugar that keeps some of the natural molasses. That adds depth, subtle caramel notes, and a nice amber color.
How to Use It

- On Pancakes or Waffles: As a syrup alternative with a little more depth.
